LOS ANGELES - A trio of Washington State track and field women student-athletes stepped on the championships podium as top-three placers in their events Saturday at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships on Cromwell Field at Loker Stadium on the USC campus.

Anna Adamko (sophomore, Vancouver, Wash.) was the runner-up in the women's javelin with a throw of 153-feet even (46.64m), while Celena Ward (sophomore, Spokane) finished eighth with a throw of 137-3 (41.83m). Jaclyn Onosko took ninth place with a throw of 135-3 (41.23m). This is the second season Adamko has scored in the conference championships.

"I'm hoping for a lot more next year," Adamko said. "I didn't have an excellent throw. But my competitiveness and my comfort level has gone up. I'm used to this environment and these are people I've thrown against for many years. I feel that my mind has been clearer the last couple of weeks and getting myself mentally prepared. I'm really looking forward to NCAA competition."

Holly Parent (redshirt junior, Victoria, B.C.) high jumped a season-best 5-11 1/4 (1.81m) for second place. Parent cleared the first two bars on her first attempts but needed all three attempts at 5-10 (1.78m) and 5-11 1/4 (1.81m). Her efforts at 6-0 1/2 (1.84m) were not successful. Brigetta Barrett from Arizona State won the event after clearing a meet record 6-6 1/4 (1.99m). WSU's Charlotte Muschamp finished ninth after high jumping a season-best 5-8 3/4 (1.75m) while Audrey Ketcham was tied for 14th after clearing a bar at 5-5 (1.65m).

Caroline Austin (senior, Chehalis, Wash.) finished third in the women's 3000m steeplechase running a school record and PR time of 10 minutes 8.49 seconds and was one of 10 women to break the stadium record. Austin held the previous school record time of 10:09.55, run at the April 27 Cougar-Husky Dual meet in Seattle.

"I finished kind of where I was expecting to but personally I would have like to have been in that sweet number two spot behind the Olympian (Colorado's Emma Coburn) so that was disappointing but it was a tough field with a lot of talented girls," Austin said. "I'm excited for NCAA Regionals in two weeks. The race today was alright but not where I want it to be. It keeps me hungry and unsatisfied for two weeks to come."

Trevor Rogers (senior, Richmond, Calif.) took fifth place in the men's long jump with a season-best wind-aided leap of 24-3 (7.39m).

Senior Jono Lafler (Maple Valley, Wash.) took sixth place in the men's 10,000m after running a time of 29:46.92, just five seconds off his PR time run earlier this season. Justin Englund finished 13th in a time of 30:39.82.

In the men's 3000m steeplechase Andrew Gonzales finished just out of the scoring, in ninth place, with a time of 9:04.31 and Forrest Shaffer ran a PR time of 9:04.39 for 10th place.

In qualifying races, Shawna Fermin won her heat of the 400m dash in a time of 54.63 and had the fourth-fastest time on the day. Fermin was the runner-up in this event in 2012. Ruby Roberts qualified for the 1500m final by finishing fourth in the second heat in a time of 4:20.22, just off her PR time of 4:20.18 run two weeks ago.

Todd Wakefield ran a lifetime best time of 3:42.93 to qualify for the men's 1500m final, finishing second in his heat. Wakefield bettered his PR by nearly two seconds. Jesse Jorgensen ran the 800m prelims in a time of 1:50.49 which is sixth-best and advances him to the final.

Josiah Sims ran the 110m hurdles prelims in a time of 14.45 and advanced to the Sunday final. Garrett Gerling ran a time of 14.63 and missed qualifying for the final by 1/100s second. Dana Wells won his heat of the men's 400m hurdles in a time of 51.93 and will race in the final. Spencer Wordell, sixth in the decathlon last weekend, fell in the race and was not able to finish.

In other field finals Saturday, Austin Sodorff pole vaulted 15-7 1/4 (4.76m) to finish tied for 12th, Matt Wardell was 10th in the shot put with a toss of 50-10 3/4 (15.51m, Sam Ferenchak threw the javelin 195-9 (59.66m) for 13th, and Mary Barnett threw the shot put 43-0 1/2 (13.12m) for 15th place.
