PULLMAN -- Kyle Rothwell and Kristine Leonard, both from Idaho, won the weight throws in the opening events for the 11th Annual WSU Open Indoor Meet Friday at the Indoor Facility on the Pullman campus.

Rothwell threw the 35-pound weight a distance of 54-feet 3 3/4i inches (16.55m) to win the seven-man event. Vandal teammate Zach Trumbauer was second with a toss of 52-0i (15.85m). WSU's Chris Baltazar threw 49-4 1/4i (15.04m) for sixth.

Leonard threw the 20-pound weight a winning distance of 54-8 3.4i (16.68m) with Lewis-Clark State's Kaytlyn Coleman second with a heave of 45-3 1/2i (13.80m).

The rest of the WSU Open Indoor Meet field events resume at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with running events beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
