PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State swim team won 11 of 14 events at Gibb Pool, Friday on its way to defeating the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona by a score of 164-98.

Freshman Taylor Indahl led the Cougars with 21 individual points and two event wins. The Gig Harbor, Wash., native started off with a win in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.33) and followed it up by touching the wall first in the 400 individual medley (4:35.02).

Senior captains Rugile Mileisyte and Talor Whitaker finished with 18 points apiece, finishing first in every event they entered. Mileisyte took care of the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke while Whitaker notched victories in the 100 and 200 butterfly. Whitaker finished the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:04.53, moving her up to fifth on the WSU all-time list. The senior duo was a part of both relay victories as well.

"Talor has been so solid, going after that pool record and having some consistent swims in the 100 fly," said WSU head coach Erica Quam. "The great thing is she knows where in her races she needs to improve. She was a little slower in her turns today but I think those will be there in a few weeks when we go to Princeton."

The Cougars have won meets by committee this season, and Friday was no exception as Evelina Bieleckaite, Jessie Craig and Jennifer Dean each had individual wins against the Lumberjacks. The trio took first in the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 freestyle, respectively. In addition to the individual victories, WSU notched first-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Cougars are now 5-0 in dual-meet action this season. WSU's next competition will be the Princeton Invitational, Dec. 3-5 in Princeton, N.J.

"We are going to train really hard over the next couple weeks," Quam said. "We are looking at the times and we will really try to take some drops from the in-season times. The exciting things is, for some of these athletes, they have already been going their best times in-season, so I think all this racing this fall has put us in a good position to have a great meet in December."
