WALNUT, Calif. -- Washington State's Sara Trané, Amanda Andrews and Sam Ahlbeck ran NCAA Regional Qualifying times Thursday evening at the 51st Annual Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif.

Trané (senior, Pixbo, Sweden), the two-time defending Pacific-10 Conference steeplechase champion and school record-holder, ran her first 3000m steeplechase of the 2009 season in a time of 10:21.20 for 17th place in the women's invitational section. Trané joins Cougar teammates Andrews and Emily Farrar as regional qualifiers in the steeple.

Andrews (sophomore, Gig Harbor) took seven seconds off her lifetime-best time in the Olympic Development section of the 3000m steeplechase. Andrews took fourth place with a time of 10:35.28, which is the fifth-best time in school history.

Sam Ahlbeck (junior, Renton) ran an NCAA RQ time of 8:54.76 in the men's invitational 3000m steeplechase for 10th place. Ahlbeck has already run a faster steeple time at the Stanford Invite last month.

Drew Polley (senior, Bellingham) ran a PR and NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 29:26.46 for third place in the men's university/open 10,000m race late Thursday night. [NCAA has regional qualifying standards for all events but 10k, heptathlon and decathlon where there are NCAA Provisional and Automatic Qualifying standards.]
